Road Safety | Snow

It has been a bit of a snowy start to the day in the Forest, and we urge people to drive safely and sensibly to the conditions of the road.

lf you need to travel, please ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy and that ice/snow has been cleared from your windows before you set off. You should also remove all snow off your vehicle which might otherwise fall off and into the path of other road users and be dangerous.

We advise that you have a fully charged mobile phone, warm clothing, suitable shoes, a blanket and food and drink.

Advice on driving in adverse weather conditions can be found at http://www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/icy-and-snowy-weather.html

Gloucestershire County Council updates its website as often as possible regarding road closures in the county, you can visit this here https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/winter-and-severe-weather/current-road-closures

lf you're on X (formerly Twitter), you can follow these accounts:

You can also follow your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on Facebook for updates and to keep you in the loop about news in your area -  https://www.facebook.com/forestofdean.neighbourhood.policing.team

Please only call 999 in an emergency and refrain from calling us on 101 to ask about road closures or whether roads are clear, as this stops our call handlers from dealing with other incidents, If you need to contact us for a non-emergency you can do this online using our website. https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/

Please note, we're unable to accept reports of crime through Your Neighbourhood Alerts. You can report non-emergency crime online here. Always call 999 in an emergency.
