Crime alert | Fake Notes

We are advising businesses to be vigilant when accepting notes for purchases. There has been a couple of instances where fake £20 notes which have been used in shops in the surrounding towns and villages.

This week a male entered a shop in Newent and tendered a £20 note. This was only noticed after they had left the store. We are advising all shops and businesses to check notes before completing transactions.
