An Upton resident was approached by a man who offered to sell him an expensive looking watch cheap. The man said that he was Italian and was returning home via Birmingham. He said he had been given some watches as a bonus and 'get rid' of them as he didn't want to declare them when he returned to Italy. He said one of them was worth £800 and offered the local resident all 3 watches for £400 which he wanted to pay for his hire car. The man offered to go to the bank with the local resident to withdraw the £400. The resident refused this offer. Everyone is warned to look out for the man who speaks Italian and English Please help us raise awareness of this scam by informing your elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours.
